Why is the Lalanne Juicer supposed to be hard to clean?

Monday Mar 29, 2010

I was considering either a Jack Lalanne or Breville juicer, either the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Classic or a Breville Juice Fountain Compact. I keep reading that the Lalanne is difficult to clean and the Breville is easy, but they seem to have the same basic parts. Both have the top part with the chute, both have a pulp collector, both have a blade and filter. So, what exactly makes the Lalanne so much more diffuclt to clean? Is it difficult to remove the blade with the crescent tool?

I have the Jack LaLanne power juicer. I can’t compare it to the Breville because I haven’t owned that, but I think the power juicer quite easy to clean. Its much easier than the Juiceman Jr. and Omega juicers I used to own.

The filter basket on the Power juicer is the most difficult part to clean because of the pulp, but even that isn’t too difficult using the included brush.

It looks like you have to take apart the entire Breville juicer to remove the pulp. The Power juicer has an external pulp collector. But this wouldn’t be an issue unless you were making a larger quantity of juice.

Because, like Jack, it’s old and lacks the technology of the newer juicers.

The Lalanne juicer is super easy to clean. You just twist off the blade (and other parts) and rinse. I usually let it air dry then reassemble. Check the packaging, you may even be able to put it in the dishwasher. Where did you hear that it was difficult?
